Soul by the Seaport – A photo recap of Friday night’s concert

Above are just a few photos from Friday’s amazing Constellation Tour featuring The Womack Sisters, LA LOM, and Thee Sacred Souls, which touched down at Leader Bank Pavilion in the Seaport last Friday, September 18th.

The energy was electric set in motion primarily by The Womack Sisters – BG Womack (Lead vocals), Zeimani Womack (Vocals/harmonies), Kucha Womack (Vocals/harmonies) – and their firery brand of spiritual soul. True to their iconic and historic famiy tree, The Womack Sisters laid down song after song with precise choreography, and uniformed unison. Whether singing songs from their debut self-titled release or taking a soulful left turn with a cover of the Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby, the sisters had their groove the minute they stepped onto the Boston stage. Of particular special note and highlight was the sister’s cover of Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin’s, ‘Chain of Fools’, written by Don Covay originally for soul legend Otis Redding. Selections from their album including ‘Chauffer’ and finale hit ‘If I Let You,’ brought the Leader Bank tent house down. A few concert goers may not have been aware of The Womack Sisters or their unique and special worldly journey. After their breathtaking Boston debut, concert goers should admit they were witness to the beginning launch of this generation’s next soulful torch bearers.

Headliners, Thee Sacred Souls, did not disappoint at all. Their nearly two hour set of selections from their multiple albums had the Seaport on their feet for most if not all of their performance. The constant moving Josh Lane interacted with is Daptone bandmates as well as the audience with fluidity and grace. Josh had no problem jumping into the nearly sold out crowd, singing as well as dancing with them. And the crowd simply adored his energy. Hightlights included their hits ‘Any Old Fool,’ ‘We Don’t Have to Be Alone,’ standing ovation encore of their song, ‘Can I Call You Rose?’

ERS+ and The Secret Spot appreciate both groups and their refreshing abilities of keeping live instrumentation of R&B and Soul alive and well for concert goers to experience.
