Studio 88 9 interview with Lisa Simmons of Roxbury International Film Festival

Mo Wilks interviewed co-founder Lisa Simmons about in the Roxbury International Film Festival (aka RoxFilm) in Boston, MA, which runs from June 18th through July 2nd. Lisa, who is an  @EmersonCollege  alum, discussed her background as an actor, film documentarian, and event curator. Lisa Simmons is RoxFilm’s Artistic/Executive Director. She along with her sister Alison Simmons the Co-Director/Programmer have curated films for Boston audiences for nearly 30 years. RoxFilm festival’s mission – now in it’s 28th year – celebrates the work of filmmakers of color. The festival seeks to support diverse filmmakers by providing a platform for them to share their visions, while at the same time offering audiences the chance to witness stories and voices that are frequently overlooked in mainstream media. The festival has various day, evening and online viewing opportunities.
