Angry Raucous and Shamelessly Gorgeous inside Studio 8-8-9!

Urban Coordinator Anytza D. sat down with and interviewed featured performers
Patrice Jean-Baptiste and Yasmeen Duncan discussing their roles in the play “Angry Ruckus and Shamelessly Gorgeous” at Lyric Stage Boston. The conversation covered the themes of generational tension and legacy passing between women artists, with Patrice playing Anna Campbell and Yasmeen playing Precious Pete Watson. The actors discussed the importance of telling stories by people of color, the challenges and joys of balancing humor with serious themes about feminism and artistic ownership, and their experiences working in a small cast with a diverse creative team. They highlighted the play’s exploration of self-acceptance, aging, and empowerment, and encouraged audiences to see the production at Lyric Stage through April 12th.
